Grazer profiles have prompts like “Why I went vegan” and “My happy place”. We looked through thousands of answers to see what comes up most.
Why did people go vegan?
About seven in ten answers mention the animals. The planet and health each come up in about one answer in six, and plenty of people give more than one reason.
Why I went vegan
7 in 10 mention the animals
- 17
- per cent mention the planet climate, the environment, the earth
- 18
- per cent mention their health often alongside one of the others
A few name a documentary, and a small group were raised vegan.
Cats or dogs?
Slightly more people name cats than dogs as their favourite animal (16% against 15%). But when people add pets to their profile tags, dogs come out just ahead. As a favourite animal, cows come third, ahead of elephants and pigs.
What’s on the plate?
The single ingredient people name most for their signature dish is tofu, then curry. Pasta comes third, but count every lasagne, spaghetti and mac and cheese together and it comes first.
The go-to snack is hummus, then peanut butter. Count all fruit together and it beats both.
What do they listen to?
Rock is the most common music tag, then indie, then heavy metal, which beats pop nearly two to one. Pop comes eighth, behind jazz.
Where do they go?
Asked for their happy place, people mostly want to be outside. Nature and the outdoors account for more than a quarter of answers, and the beach or the sea for nearly a fifth.
What’s the perfect first date?
A quarter of answers involve food: dinner, brunch or a favourite café. A walk or a hike is a close second, at about one in five, and nearly as many want a beach, a park or a sunset. Coffee comes next, then drinks.
If dinner feels like a lot for a first date, here are ten ideas that aren’t.
Vegan, vegetarian or plant-based?
Seven in ten Grazer users are vegan, about one in five vegetarian and the rest plant-based (what’s the difference?). Women are more likely to be vegan than men: 74% against 66%.
